📖 How does a VIN number work?
VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) is a unique 17-character code that identifies each vehicle. It contains information about the manufacturer, model, and production year.
WMI - Manufacturer
The first 3 characters identify the manufacturer and country of origin.
VDS - Description
Characters 4-9 describe the vehicle type, body style, and engine.
VIS - Identification
Characters 10-17 contain the model year, plant code, and serial number.

Why can't VIN contain letters I, O, and Q?
These letters were excluded to avoid confusion with numbers 1 and 0.
