Price cuts in Latvian listings — September 2026

Published 23.09.2026 • Data as of 23.09.2026

Period covered 01.09.2026–22.09.2026 • sample: 25,087 cars

The month is not over yet. This issue covers data up to 22.09.2026; once the month closes it is recomputed and replaced.

44.1 % of the cars currently for sale in Latvia have already cut the price. The median cut is 350 €, or 4.8 % of the previous price.

How to read these figures

  • We detect a price cut ourselves, from our own price history: we record a listing’s price when it changes, and our watch on a given ad starts at its first history row — sometimes days after the ad was published. Cuts made before that point are invisible to us, and so is a cut that was undone between two records.
  • These figures are a distribution, not a trend. Our readings have had gaps, so the claim that sellers started cutting faster is not one this data can carry.
  • Every price here is an asking price from a listing, not a transaction price. Mileage is shown as the seller stated it.

Part 1. How many cars for sale have already cut the price

Active Latvian listings as of 23.09.2026. “With a cut” means at least one price drop we recorded since our watch on that listing began. The share is therefore a lower bound: earlier cuts are invisible to us.

Methodology

The issue is frozen: the figures are fixed on the publication date and are never recalculated. The one exception is an unfinished month, which is replaced as soon as the month ends.

We count the Latvian market without AutoPase showroom cars (they stand physically in Germany) and without “wanted to buy” ads. These figures therefore describe the market, not our own stock.

A price cut is a row in our price history that is lower than the previous row of the same listing. We store a price when it changes, so our watch on a listing begins at its first row. We do not use the price-drop counter stored on the listing itself — it does not agree with our readings.

Percentages are rounded to one decimal, euro amounts to the nearest ten.

No row is published with fewer than 100 cars behind it, and brand tables use a higher floor. A sample that is too small is dropped rather than printed as a small number.
