August 2026: 3,997 used passenger cars were registered in Latvia for the first time (CSDD). In a price snapshot taken on 22.09.2026, for 15 models a car from Germany plus the mandatory fees came out cheaper than the median Latvian listing; the widest gap was Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG: up to €64,900.
Part 1. The Latvia–Germany price gap by model

Methodology
The issue is frozen: the figures are fixed on the publication date and are never recalculated. An import here means a used passenger car registered in Latvia for the first time.
The price gap is computed from AutoPase showroom cars (delivery to Latvia and transaction handling already in the price) and from the median of Latvian listings for the same model, year window and — when the samples allow — fuel. CSDD registration, the first roadworthiness test and first-year OCTA are added to the showroom price; CO₂ tax and VAT are not. A model appears only when each side has at least 5 comparable cars.
Registration counts come from the published CSDD monthly data.
The CSDD monthly file does not state the country of previous registration, so there is no country breakdown here — and we do not claim these cars came from Germany.
Nine brands are listed: tenth place is a tie between Peugeot and Tesla, 117 cars each. CSDD also counted 42 temporary (180-day) registrations in August; they are not part of these figures.
