1. 🗺️ Parking zones in Riga

Rīgas satiksme street parking uses six tariff zones: A, B, C, D, R and V. The price and charging hours depend on the zone; always confirm the exact boundary on the official map and the road sign.

3. 💰 Prices and tariffs

Rīgas satiksme prepayment rates differ by tariff zone. In zones A–D and R, the first-hour price differs from each subsequent hour; zone V has a single daily charge.

4. 📋 Rules and regulations

Latvian traffic regulations govern car parking. Here are the most important things to know.

♿ Disabled parking

People with disabilities are entitled to park in disabled spots with a CSDD-issued disability card. The card must be visible under the windshield. Parking in disabled spots without a card is a serious violation — fine €50–150. Disabled spots are marked with blue signs and wheelchair symbol.

5. ⚠️ Fines for violations

Fines for parking violations in Riga and Latvia are substantial and can add up quickly. Enforcement is done by Riga Municipal Police and "Rīgas satiksme" LLC.

⚠️ Fines must be paid within 15 days. After the deadline, the amount can double. Unpaid fines are transferred to a bailiff and can affect your credit history. A towed car can only be retrieved after the fine is paid.

You don't always have to pay! Here are ways to park in Riga for free or at minimal cost.

Rīgas satiksme zones A–D are free on Sundays and public holidays. Zones R and seasonal V are also free on public holidays.

Zones A–D are free after 20:00 on weekdays and after 17:00 on Saturdays until the next charging period. Zone R is free from midnight to 6:00.

Shopping centres

Rīga Plaza visitors get four free hours; Galleria Riga offers one free hour once per day on Saturdays and Sundays. Check the signs everywhere else.

8. 🏖️ Parking in Jurmala

Jurmala is a special case — in summer there's an entry fee for cars, and parking is very limited. Here's what you need to know.

Train Riga–Jurmala (Majori) runs every 30 min, ticket €1.40. No entry fee or parking needed. Best option in summer.

Park at Lielupe or Priedaine station (free) and continue by train to Jurmala. Saves the entry fee and parking search.

⏰ Arrive early

If driving — arrive before 10:00. After that, finding parking in Majori and Dzintari is nearly impossible.

📱 Pay with Mobilly

The entry fee can be paid with Mobilly (zone "Jūrmala iebraukšana"). Faster than stopping at the parking meter.

9. 💡 Tips and tricks

1. 📱 Always use Mobilly

With Mobilly you only pay for actual time — if you leave after 47 minutes, you don't pay for a full hour. Parking meters charge full hours.

2. 🗺️ Check the zone before parking

Zones can change on the same street. Check the road sign (zone letter A/B/C/D/R/V) or Mobilly map. Wrong zone = wrong payment = fine.

3. 📸 Photo your ticket/screen

If you paid for parking but the inspector can't verify — a photo is proof. Save Mobilly receipts.

4. ⏰ Set a reminder

Set a phone reminder so you can stop or extend the parking payment in the app on time.

5. 🅿️ Multi-story garages in center

Multi-story car parks do not use Rīgas satiksme zone boundaries, but each has its own terms. Rīga Plaza gives visitors four free hours; after that, the operator's tariff applies.

6. 🚗 Courtyard parking

Many apartment buildings in center offer courtyard parking for €50–100/month. Search on ss.lv or Facebook groups.

7. ❄️ In winter — clear the snow

If your car is parked on the street in winter and not moved for 48h+ — it may be towed during snow clearing. Follow street clearing announcements.

How much does Origo parking cost?▼

The Origo underground car park is open 24/7. It costs €2.50 per hour from 8:00 to 20:00, €0.50 per hour from 20:00 to 8:00, and €15 per 24 hours.

11. 🏬 Shopping-centre parking

Each shopping centre or its operator sets its own parking terms. The prices and free periods below are limited to facts confirmed on official centre websites in September 2026.

Rīga Plaza

Visitors receive 4 free hours. Number plates are read automatically; extra time can be paid through Snabb or Mobilly. There are about 1,500 spaces.

Origo

Open 24/7. From 8:00 to 20:00 it costs €2.50 per hour; from 20:00 to 8:00, €0.50 per hour; the 24-hour charge is €15. ANPR cameras record entry and exit.

Galleria Riga

A 24/7 prepaid car park. On Saturdays and Sundays, 1 hour is free no more than once per day; the Mobilly tariff applies at other times.

Domina Shopping

The centre lists almost 2,000 spaces but does not publish a current visitor tariff on its official page. Check the signs on site.

Spice

Surface and multi-storey parking is open from 10:00 to 23:00. The official page does not state the current tariff — check the entrance signs.

AKROPOLE Alfa and Galerija Centrs

Their official pages did not confirm a current standard free period or tariff. Follow the posted car-park signs and operator instructions.

⚠️ Private parking rates and promotions can change. EuroPark says the specific tariff, free period and any registration requirement are shown on the signs or payment machine.

12. 🏛️ Old Town — tariff zone R

Old Town zone R is a separate, and the most expensive, Rīgas satiksme tariff zone — it is not part of zone A. Before paying, check that the road sign shows the R zone code.
